There is some debate on the virtues of tall tread bars vs short tread bar hights on sand. A tractor bar tread or very coarse mud/snow tread pattern is prefered.
Certainly the larger the contact area on the ground the better, tall and wide.

For several years I had been driving by a farm house on the west side of Indianapolis that had a John Deere combine parked in high weeds in a lot behind the house.
