Sammy: What I've discovered since coming to YT is most tractors didn't get used very much. My dad bought that 300 new in 1955 and for about 10 years it never saw less than 1,000 hours per year. I expect that tractor has 25,000 hours on it by now. I don't think 6 sets of pistons and sleeves are too bad for that kind of hours. It became a second tractor with the purchase of a 560D then 3rd with a 656D, 4th with a new 1066. There is a guy down the road from me restoring his dad's 300 bought new in 1955 to cash crop 500 acres along with 1 smaller tractor. Some of these tractors did get used a lot more than others. There was a good reason for some of the 1950s and 60s gassers not to have seen a lot of use. The diesels that followed were much more fuel efficient. It quite frankly surprises me to see 56 and 66 series diesels around with as little as 5,000 to 10,000 hours on them. Someone obviously had little to do with them. Probably part of the reason North American farmer were always crying hard up. You will always make more profit when underpowered than overpowered.

Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a
