0-40 synthetic oil

I just found out about this oil. Is it OK to run year round in my gas and diesel equipment. What about using it in final drives and transmissions. Where I live it can reach -45F in winter to 100F in summer. I'm still looking for outlet port cover for a Massey Ferguson 220 Industrial Backhoe attachment I just bought (MF#1400582M1 Plate, Cover). If I can't find that part I will have to change the whole valve bank and my "good deal" just became a not-so-good deal.
