Ben,

With a 4 post ignition you can "hot wire" the tractor. I could not tell you which wires without looking at it but two must be tied together and the other two can be jumped across to engage the starter. It is not a "recommended" practice but I ran a David Brown this way for a couple of years with no problem.

If it is not the ignition switch you maybe able to turn the switch on an jump across the solenoid to start it.
