A tarp comes to mind, but I don't think that's a good idea because the wind whipping the tarp could be very abrasive on your show quality paint.

How about a V-shaped solid shield on the front of the trailer to deflect all wind, bugs, and small stones? It could be made of plywood or sheetmetal. I'm not sure how to permanently and securely attach it to the trailer. You might also need holes in the bottom to run your tie-downs through.
