Jeff, If it is a 540 machine, have him hook it to the 540 pto. Run the tractor wide open and adjust his ground speed by selecting a higher or lower gear. I run mine down in first....just does a better job, in my opinion. I just wouldn't hook that 540 machine up to the 1000 pto; it is going to tear something up or hurt somebody. These adaptors work fine for other things; such as hooking a 540 NH3 pump up to a 1000pto....just moves more gas, etc. Or say, hooking a 1000 auger to a 540 to slow it down, etc. Allan
