2000 Ford F 350 4X4 reverse problem

Put my truck in reverse and it seemed to pull really hard. Gave it more pedal and it went but seemed almost like it was in mud. I let up on it and it seemed to move more freely but soon as I gave it more pedal it seemed to bind again. I shut it off and when I tried it again it did'nt do it. But later on that same day it pulled really hard in reverse again . Any suggestions?
