They may have solved the following two problems by 2000 or not? Valve body gasket would blow, or leak between passages due to loose or broken valve body bolts. Stator support would move where it's pressed into front pump, causing cross-leaks between passages. Either of the above problems could cause forward and reverse to apply at the same time, binding up the transmission.
