Lot of the older distillate burning(kerosene) tractors had 2 drain cocks on the oil pan. The Idea was to open the bottom one each morning before you started it up for the day, and the unburned distillate which was lighter and thinner than the old motor oils would drain out into your bucket. When finished draining you then added a quart of new motor oil and you were ready to work for the day. It is supposed to be one quart between the upper and lower drains that they had on the oil pan at that time. Gene Davis
