Hi again Slowpoke, yes I know my lathe chuck wont go there but I have pin vise that will.I never thought of clr but the wife has some so will try it and post the effects?? Can't hurt this much .as its already landfill---just thought if I can salvage it wud be worthwhile. I am a bit leary of some of the carb cleaners . I have used acetone and strong stuff around the place in the past.My wife came down with a rare terminal illness 6 yrs back and the doc says maybe from exposure to these chemicals --No proof but they dont know what causes Myelofibrosis for which there is no cure. She has had abt 250 units of blood in the past 5-6 yrs.Every 3 wks. So we shud be extra careful with this stuff.Working on this old stuff is all that keeps me sane(????) Tnx agn John
