Around here (West TN ) I can think of very few if any shows that are judged. For the most part the tractor in the show itself are just a good excuse for people to get together and talk for a while. I have to admit there are times I have been bored at a show too but usually not for long. You get to meet new friends and learn alot about other tractors and sometimes even your own.

Most of the people or clubs that sponser these shows are wanting to show the younger generation how things were done years ago and the equipment it was done with. Keeping history alive I believe is how I have heard it explained.

There are shows that are judged and if you like that atmosphere I think it is great. I tend to shy away from those just because there is too much work involved getting everything just perfect for the judges. I had rather just sit and tell a few lies ( yes that happens alot too but their harmless ones) and enjoy the good company of others. Heck a tractor show is about like a whole history lesson of the area you are in and the people around that area and not just tractors.

Well I have rambled on I guess. I guess tractor shows have several purposes. Bringing good people together, keeping farming history alive, and just making a good reason to sit and do nothing for a day.

BTW, what part of the country are you in and what tractor do you have? I live in West Tn and although I mainly show and Oliver RC 77 we have most any major brand ( hehe we're not color specific here... hahaha!)
