Delco 10 DN Alternator draing battery...

As stated, I have had this alternator rebuilt and my votage regulator is brand new as well. The regulator has 3 terminals, "F", "3", & "4". The alternator charges great at around 14.5 volts, everythng is great. However, it drains the battery if left for a few hours when not running. I hooked an ammeter to it and it is drawing 2.6 amps. I'm baffled. I have installed a diode (50 V, 1 Amp) on the #4 cire (ignition) and that did nothing. I tried the diode on the regulator's output (#3, bat) and that didn't work. When I disconnect the battery wire from the #3 terminal on the regulator the -2.6 amp goes to zero and my battery stays charged. The only solution I can come up with is to install a switch to cut the circuit everytime i am done with the tractor, but that's a pain in the A$$ and if i forget I will have a dead battery. BTW, the tractor is a MF 180, and the ignition source is the oil pressure switch (no other ignition source available) Thanks, Mark
