Mark it sounds like they gave you a regulator for a late 60s or early 70s GM car or truck They do not have the fuel gauge terminal on them but the other wires are the same just hook the fuel gauge wire to the oil pressure switch with the wire that going to the regulator. I have not hooked one of those up for years but the best I remember the first wire goes to the Alternator F terminal the wire from oil pressure switch goes to the second terminal on the regulator & the third wire goes to the ammeter. one other thing to check is the Oil pressure switch to be sure it is turning off when the engine is shut off if not it will keep the alternator excited all the time.
