Have not looked at the diagrams referenced. But one cause of discharge through an alternator is a shorted diode(s) in the alternator. They change the generated AC current to DC. One of the primary causes of shorted internal diodes is removing a battery cable while the engine is running- but they occasionally fail spontanteously. If other diagnoses fail to find the problem, consider this one.
