I've had this conversation with my sister-in-law, a District Judge now, formerly assistant DA, here in Texas. Although it's technically true, that trespassers can be shot (if you have posted "no trespassing" signs, plainly visible), the legality of doing that is another matter in today's court system. You have to be able to prove the trespasser was a threat to you or your family members, or that they were stealing. The question that keeps coming up in my mind, is where are the parents in all this? I learned at an early age to respect other people's property, get permission first, etc. Apparently, those values didn't survive in some families' gene pool...
