Both companys make good engines, But the Kubota's, like all the other Japanease designs, are light to medium duty engines, where Perkins engines are a HD design.
Both engines are good value, as long as you use them for what they were designed for. A heavy tillage tractor needs a HD engine, but a lighter tractor to pull wagons, dig post holes, ect. can have a lighter duty engine and will last many thousands of hours.
