difference between moly and lithium multi purpose

I'm having trouble with the right angle drive gear box on my Ariens mower deck throwing out grease. The manufacture recomends using their moly based multi purpose grease but since there is no longer a dealer near by I've been using MF lithium base multi purpose grease. I've replaced the seal twice as well as the input shaft. There is no vent that I can see on the gear box. Any ideas?
