Yes, they were an option,somewhere in my archives I have pictures of pto post hole diggers,mowers ,winches front and rear pto driven. They were advertised as a small utility tractor alternative.Yes i have some family that installed 283ci in them but this is overkill. YOU THINK FINDING ENGINE PARTS IS HARD.IE CHEVY ENGINE SWAPS,TRY FINDING TRANSFERCASE PARTS THESE CASES DO NOT LIKE ALOT OF HP OR TORQUE, THEY WERE BUILT FOR ANEMIC 4 AND 6"s!!!! HOWEVER "TRANSDAPT" SELLS FORD/CHEVY SWAP KITS OR PARTS FOR 2.3/151/V-6/SMALL-8'S

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
