The allison tranny learns from the driver how to shift.It can be reprogramed if it shifts to much or downshifts at the slightist hill,had mine done made a lot of difference.I pull an 8000 pound 30 ft gooseneck with no problem.These trannys will shift more than regular autos,they know the best time to shift,there smarter than most drivers.Just set back and let it do it's thing. Most people never use the lock out.There's a company selling lock out switches for the torque converter,but I wouldn't want one.let it shift, that's what it's made for.
