Jerry, if you haul you tractor to shows you are ok an not hauling anything that you are going to sell or make money with on a daily basic's (ie: make a living at or for profit)then you do not fall under DOT reg's. I have in the past seen dozen's of motor homes with trailer's going down the road with all types of commercial signs on them, I have never seen one pull into a state weight station unless the were asleep at the wheel following me into a weight station thinking it was the road (Big Grin) But let me point out if you do this for a living an haul equipment for a living the you a subject to DOT rule's, if you are out to have fun, enjoy meeting other people an show your tractors not out to profit from this you do not have to follow DOT reg. One other point is that there are except for a few states very little weight station inside the city limit's of few cities in the country. Most state's have what the call portable scale's that can be set up along a street an weigh a truck. I have never seen any motor home or pickup truck being pulled over an weighted unless they looked unsafe (ie; load falling off - load or wide load - overweight were the front wheels looked like they didn't touch the ground) I guess key word here are "Profit" an "Commercial" don't read into the reg's for more than what they are. They are not after they guy's that spend a weekend playing tractor at a swapmeet or show. The DOT is after the people who do it on a regular basic's, ie; daily, or are making a living driving an selling full time. Again as long as you look out for your weight, make sure you load is tied down ok an don't drive unsafely you should never have a problem. Foot note: being an owner/operator I do this as a living, I see lots of bad stuff going down the road daily. If only people would be safe, load there stuff right, chain or tire it down well then there wouldn't be major problems an new laws that afect all of us. I dawn my flack jack an helmet now an say that I for one think that all motor home owner/drivers should be required to have a combination CDL along with motor homes that have air brakes an air brake indorsement. I can not count on my hands nor toe's an a daily basic's were I see unsafe operation of these vehicle's, both with an without trailers. I am not alone in this thinking, ask any over the road truck driver what he thinks about motor homes an 98 percent well tell the same think only with more wording than I can put here. Lets all be safe out there please :o) only my three cents worth :o)

What Oil Should I Use? - by Francis Robinson. I keep seein this question pop up over and over again in discussion groups all over the web. As with many things there are often several right answers and a few wrong ones. Some purist I'm sure will disagree to no end with what I will tell you but most of us out here in the real world don't really care do we ? Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
