These are awesome machines. Fully hydraulic as you probably know which decreses those damn belts that alsways break and usually cost $40. I don't know much about Onan engines but I have a 1976 Case 224 which is the grandpa of the ingersols and it is a great tractor. My uncle purchased a 4016 Ingersol a few years back and hasn't had any problems with it. I will say that 1000 hour seems like an aweful lot. Are you certain it only ever mowed the 1 1/2 acres? Things to check: Hydraulic level Should be a little bit in the throat of the fill, obviously engine oil cna be a good indication of how the machine was cared for as will the hydraulic oil, and listen to the transmission when you drive it be alert to grinding and cracking noises I have heard of this happeneing. Check for hydraulic leaks, they will be obvious and if there is a leak I would be weary of the owner keeping the hydraulic level proper. Check the clutch that engages the deck it should snap in and out of gear and not slip obviously. And if possible check the bearings on the deck by rocking the blades with the engine off again obviously. But these are great machines and I might just ask someone about the Onan Engines. Good luck.
