My experience with heavy duty gas engines was the same- from 10 MPG on down, depending on load. Modern diesels will get at or near 20 MPG empty, but mileage does go down as load gets heavier- Our Powerstroke gets about 19 empty, 15 with "half a load", and 11 to 13, depending on terrain, with full load (camper on back, towing trailer with 6,000# tractor). But it still goes like stink even with the full load. Just loves Montana- both Powerstroke and Dodge Cummins are in their power curve at 75 to 80 MPH. Would prefer it at 65 to 70, for safety and legal reasons.
