That's the beauty of JB Weld- its a "nothing ventured, nothing gained" type of thing. Its cheap compared to other solutions, its easy to grind out and try something else if it doesn't work, and you haven't inflicted any further permanent damage, like you might with welding, etc. The battery in my lawn tractor moved forward and got a hole worn in the bottom edge from the belt- tilted the battery up to keep the acid away, cleaned up the area and put on JB- sealed it up just fine.
