I agree-keep it 6V. If it isn't working then it needs maintained as stated by above posts. If this doesn't work then you need a generator or starter rebuild-whichever one is giving you problems. Tried an 8V battery in an old 6V truck years ago-more *%@^ headaches and wind up spending more money than you would rebuilding your present system. As said above it is usually cables and connections-clean and replace as neccessary. Jack
