Flair fittings JIC 37?

Hi, I need to replace a P.S. hose. The origional hose has a 3/8 steel line on each end of the hose. I can get an off the shelf hose with a mail pipe thread on each end. I was going to use a standard plumbing 45 flair and nut fitting, to join the pieces. But I have heard I should use a JIC 37 degree flair. Which is better, is the 37 a double flair and does it take special tools? What the heck is it? Help!
