As a Former IH Truck mechanic in a dealership that was doing about $120,000 a month in the repair shop. I always wondered what we could have made if we didn't have lost sales because of no parts in stock. In our case we were the Bastaud Child of a parent store across the state. So our outside purchased parts to local vendors was imense. After the parts are marked up 30 to 40%, the customer is paying more than a over the counter price. I had seen cases where a 3 cent Plastic nylon tie was being billed @ $1.67 Each and 15 were billed to the customer. This is what can tarnish a good customer/dealer relationship. But I do agree with JD_G. That giving your local dealer a chance to serve you can work.
