Replacement vs.OEM

Does anyone have any bad experiences using replacement parts over OEM? I'm looking at overhaul kits from an aftermarket supplier and they are somewhat less than from my John Deere dealer. Would I be better off spending the extra $$$ for "genuine parts" or would the replacement parts be just as good? I'd really like to do it right the first time and no get stuck with junk parts. Thanks
