I had the crankshaft turned since I am rebuilding the CE engine on my B. When I put the gear back on the crank I heated it in the oven to 350 so it would go on the shaft. It went on but did not go all the way to the main bearing journal. It stopped just shy maybe .010 or .015 Now I have put the bearing halves in the block and I started with the thrust bearing after dropping the crank into the block. After shimming it to .002 it turns great without any play but it has .016 end play. My book says the end play should be .001-.005 My questions are: does the gear need to be tight against the journal and is there any other way to tighten the end play that I now have ? I know .015 will make it go knock, knock, knock..... Thanks, Andy
