Pole barn siding?

Well, I have my pole barn up (posts and roof), the concrete slab is finished, and now I need to work on the siding. I want board and batten siding, just like the old days, with rough sawn lumber. My question is whether to use pine or hemlock, the two most prevalent softwoods in my area. Please advise me on pro and cons of each. Thanks for the help. Bill
