The problem was, low sales. In my area, there were a lot of 450's for sale, as everyone was going to 550's and bigger. The 400's were hard to sell in quanity. Case also dropped their 350, and upped their 450 to 550. CAT quit their D4 hi-trak, and started selling a lot of D5's.
Lots of modular homes going in, and they are heavy. Full of sheet rock, instead of paneling like the old trailors. 450's could hardly do the job, and 400's wouldn't!
When i bought my 450, my excavator friends called it a "tinker toy", and said, Why didn't you come buy mine?? We are going bigger!
That's at least one of the reasons for low sales in my area.
