Yes, rotavateing is Howards "trade name" for tilling. My Howards will til up to 8" deep, it's ajustable. You can rotavate all tilable soils, and reclaim some land that would be very hard to do by any other means. With a Howard you can select the rotor speed, and that alone will take it out of the "convential" tiller catagory! It all so allows a "faster ground speed", so it's isn't really true that they are a "lot slower" than plowing, discing, discing, and draging ect.!! Add all those trips over you field, and you cause more compaction, and use as much or more fuel than rotavateing!! All so how much total time was used for all those trips??? I've yet to see a field that needed more than two trips rotavateing, even reclaiming a heavy field of sod. The picture shows "once over" a combined rye field that the straw "wasn't" baled!!!
