Gettin her going

Looking to get a Massey Harris 44 started this weekend that has not been running for over 3years. It has been in a shed most the time except for a couple months this summer. I am looking for some helpful hints for trying to get it going. It has a 6 volt system and before I buy a battery for it, I recall that there is some way to jump it with a 12 volt jump, but don't remember how. Any ideas for gettin her going or jumping it with a 12 volt would be appreciated.
