Hi James, Theres certian metals than can come into contact with other chemicals that will cause a catylsis reaction. This is one of them. When a diesel engine is working correct, it's supposed to not leak diesel into the oil pan. If all is correct then there should be <.05ppm diesel between oil changes. Now take a copper funnel and it causes the diesel molcues to from a chain that enrichs the burning properites of diesel thus more mpg and HP per BTU. This is only supposed to work just before the fuel is injected as if the fuel travels very far after the reaction, it turns back to the carbon chain it was. T_Bone
