The overrunning clutch is not important for a modern live pto tractor because simply pushing in the clutch relieves all the problems. Where it is important is on older non-live pto's, particularly those driven off the transmission, like the old Ford N series tractors. Those machines can be driven by the pto. The pto spins from the inertia of the hogs blades, and keeps the tractor moving until the blades stop turning. To put it mildly, that sucks when your heading into a tree or a ditch. So those machines are the ones that need the overruning clutch.
