Hauling a tractor

I will be going to the mid west soon to get a CA Allis with my Ford F150 pulling a 28 ft hay trailer-- my questions are - what problems can I run into reguarding laws in different states. I have seen lots of comments about folks being stopped for improper secureing of load etc. would appreciate any info from anyone with insight. I am trying to keep up with the weather since am not accustomed to driveing in snow/ice. The weight is within approved limits for truck/trailer.
