I posted this question a couple of days ago and it looks like someone stepped on it with a different topic. So I am posting it again in hopes of a response. I have a 1959 SOS with a single speed PTO (871) that was in a fire about 2008, and has been sitting since then. I have just completed getting it back to running condition. Is it possible to replace the PTO output seal without removing the PTO shaft? I have reviewed the PTO overhaul section of the Ford manual. I have also just drained and refilled the hydraulic section. After draining the differential and upon filling it, I discovered why it had less than two quarts of fluid in it; the fluid flows out of the PTO seal. I am not looking forward to draining and refilling the hydraulic section if I don't have to, so I am asking the people who know. Thanks.
