I'm pretty rough on things and well known for destroying clothing in short order yet I haven't broken a cell phone in the 33 or so years I've had one. I've even dropped a phone two stories onto dirt and it survived without a scratch (a testament to the older LG "feature" phones). I seem to average 6 years or so per phone before it is replaced for whatever reason. I also buy used phones for some dedicated uses like drone control (no SIM or cell service needed).
