My new phone

I have used a simple track flip phone for years. It folds and fits nice in my pants pocket, with my keys, and knife. I mentioned to my wife I need to get another $100.00 year contract on my phone. My first mistake. My wife gets my daughter involved. She has an I phone (what ever that is) she is not using. Next thing, I am sitting in this phone store. second mistake This salesman, is telling me for $40.00 a month I can add this phone to my wife's account. No was the first thing out of my mouth before anyone else said a thing. This guy comes back after some figuring, and says $29.00 a month. In a moment of weakness I said ok third mistake Now I have a phone I can hardly use, and already dropped it twice. I want to be fair with my family, who is trying to help me. How do you handle these phones. It fits in my pocket, but now I have no place for my keys and knife. any suggestion's will be helpful stan.

I have a so called 'smart phone', in fact I just got a new one several weeks ago.

But, to me it's a tool, and I don't even carry it all the time. I just use it when I need to. The camera is handy. If my wife wants me to pick something up from a grocery store it's handy to just take a picture of the old carton so I know for sure what to get. Or if I need to order something for my shop, it's handy to take a picture of a tag with the model number and serial numbers instead of trying to copy all the numbers down.

I'm not one who lives by his phone all day. I've never taken a 'selfie' picture and I prbably never will. I guess it's up to you how, and how much, you use it.

I found that the CLC nylon holster works well for me. I also went through the similar problem that you did. I just put the holster on my belt. Works well for me and they are relatively inexpensive. They make several sizes for your application.

Can't help you there. I made a mistake by letting my wife and the sales gal talk me in to some big thick rubber coated flip phone instead of the little thin plastic one I was used to.

The old one got wet in my bib pocket because I was sweating so bad for a few days that the screen went blank. But this one is water poof to five feet for 20 minutes! Big deal. Does that make it sweat proof? Blasted thing is twice as thick and heavy in my pocket.

I laughed and laughed when read this.
I am somewhat in the same boat. Family wants me to have old Iphone
for free, (beware of Greeks bearing gifts I say) . My old android OS was years out of date so I went and got new TCL30z for 30 some $. Contract is only $10.00 a month paid yearly. My advise is get bigger pockets.

Sad thing is the days of a phone booth have gone the way of the dodo. This from a guy who actually likes his IPhone as I do business things off it. Texting works well for me also.

I've had to have a modern smart phone for years to do business on. I buy a case and screen protector when I get them. It makes them bulky and almost too much for my shirt pocket with my glasses, but they don't get damaged. I've dropped and stepped on mine many times and it's not broken yet. The screen protector is all cracked up, but the screen below it is fine. The cover protects from water too, so sweat doesn't hurt it. Wish it was smaller tho.

Before my wife went into memory care, she couldn't get her flip phone to work and asked for my help. I've had an iPhone for so many years that I couldn't figure out how to get her flip phone to work.

I had an LG flip phone which I unfortunately got wet and it quit. Found out later that only the battery got wet and quit. In the meantime I bought a TCL and one by one transferred the contact numbers (a very big job and provider couldn't help as they had no way to access my old phone which was supposedly dead) and after using this TCL system for a few weeks I tried a new battery in my old LG and it worked. I went back to my provider Verizon and asked if they could re-authorize my LG and de-authorize my TCL. They did that by transferring the SIM chip and I'm back to my old system which I am very familiar with and happy again. That TCL has a different and larger profile than the LG so it was awkward in addition to not user friendly. The Verizon Tech told me he felt the same way - that TCL was harder to use as compared to the LG so I'm again a happy camper. Oh, I have no plans to go to a so-called smart phone. I don't need all the junk they try to provide.

I will stay with my flip phone as long as I can get one.
Got the last 2 for free from ATT.
I don't like ATT but will keep them for phones as we have great signal in our area.
Soon our internet and TV will come from our local electric coop and the speeds will be much faster on internet.
And if something happens like a storm, the coop is always very fast fixing things.

We all NEED to keep up with technology. If we live long enough a smart phone is going to be a necessity so we better get used to it and learn how to use it. Tickets for sports games, hunting licenses, medical info etc now come to your smart phone. Besides that they are handy and a BIG step up for getting information for your everyday life. You tube is especially handy as is THIS web site. All this and more at your finger tips! We don't drive model T's anymore either.

I hear yah. I had a slide phone for years. With the qwerty slide keyboard until the letters wore off. They don't make it anymore. Texting was something I refused to do until I needed to send sensitive messages in front of my parents who suffered from alzheimers. I got smart phone about 5 years ago. I'm basically Amish when it comes to phones. I'm still learning. I don't mind it. It is big and required changing my lifelong pocket arrangement. I enjoy the camera for shop issues and the ease of looking up parts.

Look at it like a multi-tool, once you get one you have no idea how you got by before having to run to the shop for basic tools for so many tasks.

The phone is the same way, it's there always at hand to take the before you take it apart pictures, lookup parts, order parts, lookup service information, look at weather radar, ask questions here, get answers here, etc.

If you do get a holster for it make sure to get one that has heavy duty belt loops and not a clip. With all the heavy work you do the clip will push off your belt and you'll lose it.

I'm sticking with my flip phone. When it becomes no longer possible to use that type phone anyone contacts me will have to do it through my wife or daughter. I will no longer have a phone. I lived most of my life without a phone in my pocket, seem to recollect life was less stressful without it.

Buy pants with cargo pockets problem solved. I tried to tote a phone on my side it was either in the way are I broke the case.

I wear Round House bibs, so I have plenty of pockets. Knife & pliers in the lower right leg pockets. iPhone in the upper right bib pocket, money in upper left bib pocket. My front pockets are used for the task at hand. Plus 2 pencil pockets and I still have 2 back pockets that are empty. I have no need for keys, so that frees up a pocket for me.
