The instructions for our woods 59 (not L59) indicate the belt needs to be very tight, not just tight but very tight. It claims the bearings can take it. When dad used to use our B with the 59 woods he was afraid to tighten the belt that tight and he went through a belt every couple years. The belt for the B might be a little different since it runs off the tractor belt pulley instead of the PTO. It has a 3/4 twist built into it. I think the belt gets too hot from slippage if it is not tight enough.
