We used a Group 49 (H8) battery in our Ford 4000SU. It has nearly the performance of a Group 31 (which we try to use everywhere), but is a little shorter height. The Ford 4000 needed that slightly shorter height to clear the hood sheet metal. Does your 3000 have a similar swing out battery tray, above the engine, like a 4000SU?
