I want to thank all who replied and clear some things up.
First it is a 12 volt converted system and second the tractor that has been running for years wired the same way as the second tractor whose pertronix has failed twice. The second time after running for a few minutes. They both have solid copper wires that yesterdaystractors sells. They both have both ballast resistors as well as the inline resistors. I just can't make sense of it. Both have the same 12 volt square can coils not that 280 dollar conversion to a vehicle coil that yesterdaystractors sells. I would love to convert it to a vehicle type coil if it would work but I have car coils laying around here and I don't want to pay 280 dollars for just the plate and spark plug thingy that goes on top of the distributor. Any comment again would be helpful.
