Ok I think I may understand this. A coil for his tractor has no internal resistor even if it is labeled a 12 volt coil. To be honest Ive never monkeyed around with the smaller fords. In my mind a true 12 volt system with a true 12 volt coil should not need an inline ballast resistor. If a true 12 volt coil which is has an ohm rating of 3 should work for his system. 12 volts divided by 3 ohms of resistance would give around 4 amps which I heard here was ideal. Im not sure why another resistor is necessary unless its really a 6 volt coil and not a 12 volt internally resisted coil. Like I said Ive never played with a Ford. Please school me. Im willing to learn !
