No they dont recommend them. Im pretty sure from my recent research they say to not use them. I thought at first I had that issue because dad last replaced the plug wires. I thought he used the wrong ones till I looked and they were correct. Some here say they have used solid core wires with no problems. To be honest Im not sure why youve not had any issues with your other tractor. Maybe less run time ? I would use what Petronix recommends. I do not know everything about these units, but like I said I learned a lot here. I do know also the unit needs a continuous 12 volts to function right. I hope you get it figured out. Can be really frustrating and costly. I would double check plugs, wires, cap, and rotor for issues also. Even corrosion in the plug wire ends under the rubber boots. That was one of my issues.
