Either you are trying to put on category 3 equipment,or you have a fasthitch with adapter prongs, My 706;826(and any other 06/56/66) category two 3pointwill easily spread out plenty wide for the standard 32 category two width.If you truly have a fast hitch,you need the 'special' offset prong for category two equipment.A fasthitch with straight prongs is 28/category one width.Post a pic for us to help you.
