706 3 point arms

Why wont my 706 3 point arms spread out wider? They wont spread wide enough to hook up
to JD 3 point plow or a 3 point JD Planter? What am I missing?

Either you are trying to put on category 3 equipment,or you have a fasthitch with adapter prongs, My 706;826(and any other 06/56/66) category two 3pointwill easily spread out plenty wide for the standard 32 category two width.If you truly have a fast hitch,you need the 'special' offset prong for category two equipment.A fasthitch with straight prongs is 28/category one width.Post a pic for us to help you.

What chains are those? Unless it's something someone cobbled up there are no chains on a 706 3pt unless we're not talking about international tractors here.

If it was a fast hitch I would expect the complaint to be that the arms won't spread AT ALL, not that they won't spread "enough."

Most likely it is not CAT 3 either, but a 706 should easily spread wide enough to hook up to a CAT 3 anyway. The ball ends just won't go over the pins.

move together, not separately?? And I can remove the arms with the balls bur Fast Hitch equipment
wont go in far enough to latch?
 
my 756 equipped with three point has stub ends with the balls in the end of the arms that are latched in place with latches similar to fast hitch latches. These stubs are pinned and only come out a little to aid with hook up. If these stubs are free someone has has removed the roll pins that hold them in. With those stubs out it gives the impression that a fast hitch implement will go in, but it wont, the geometry is wrong.
 
Are the number 31 pins removed? See diagram in link. I think the number 30s can be screwed of of the number 29s but I think they should engage by 3 threads at a minimum. If your 3 point does not look like this it is an aftermarket adaptation.

If they move together, you have a Fast Hitch.

The arms are not removable on a 3pt hitch, they just extend, but are usually rusted in place.

Just to confirm, crouch down and follow one of the "3pt" arms up under the tractor. If it makes a big U and comes out as the other arm, you have a Fast Hitch, 100%.

By the way, there is no way a 706 would have a Category 1 3pt on it.

Fast Hitch is actually part way between CAT 1 and CAT 2 as far as width goes. CAT 1 is 26" and CAT 2 is 32". Fast Hitch is 28".
 
I know my 656 3 point has a really pain to adjust set of sway bars on it. I can t help with a 706.
 
Your Tractor is fast hitch with conversion 3pt prongs in the sockets. Your only real solution is to change the mounts on the implement to span the rigid fast hitch sockets. There are three fast hitch types single socket (small tractors like Cub) 2 prong thin (vertically) for Super C and intermediate small tractors, and big prong (vertically) with use in 300 and larger tractors. All 2 point have the same width. Smalls can be used in large with a 1/2 inch spacer. There are latches in the top of all fast hitch sockets, If the latches are worn, or gone, the real FH prongs will not latch at all. If you are trying to attach a cat 3 implement it may be outsized for the 706 power. Jim
 
That's not the only "real" solution.

Another real solution is to get a set of fast hitch adapters that are offset to fit Category 2 implements. You may also want to find a set that is offset vertically and horizontally because fast hitch does not lift as high on its own.
