Just sort of a personal opinion, but the cast looks to old to be in the era of problem calf delivery. I don�t think cattle had all that much trouble calving when they were pure bred. When cross breeding started that is when calving issues started. Without spending a lot of time it looks like cross breeding started mainly post WWII. I am going to say that device predates WWII.
