I have been reading old advertisements and operator manuals. These older documents state that a tractor of 2 plow capacity is needed to operate the implement such as a baler. Exactly what is a two plow tractor? The number of bottoms that a tractor can pull is very dependent on the soil condition. The manufacturers list 2 plow tractor as a specific horsepower. The JD 14T manual calls out the JD 40 or equivalent for power required for PTO operation. Was 40 powerful enough to run a baler? When did they such to required PTO horsepower as determining the size of the tractor need ed to operate the implement?
