Earlier you mentioned 'the mountains'. You mean the 'mountains of virginia,or other low eastern mountains? No way we can grow corn in our Colorado mountains,excepting in a couple of lower altitude valleys.Our valley here is 5000 ft,we grow corn (pinto) beans,onions,potatoes�..But, have 10-11000 footers here,less than an hour away.Gunnison,about 2 hours from here is 8000ft. they only grow grass hay. even too cold for alfalfa,oats/small grains. Corn,other stuff is completely out of the question.Some years they only get only 30 days between freezes. I would expect some of those 'small' eastern mountains don't even make it it 5000? Sorry,it just struck me funny that they are growing corn in the mountains.
