JD 4050 with water in oil

My JD 4050 gets water in the oil when it is sitting still,when it is running all day it stays the same,let it set a day or two and it has a gallon or two of water in the oil.Is it possible for the water pump to be bad and leaking into the oil? How do I check this since the water pump is driven from inside the engine Thanks
