I talked to old school tractor mechanic from Hamlet, In. about my cylinder sleeves sticking above block. He said that's normal. I should soak head gasket in water over night before installing. I had to re-torque my head gasket 6 times after engine warmed up before the torque didn't change. That meant I had to remove valve train each time. I forget what brand gasket he recommended using.
I wish I had used a thin film of RTV on my gasket. Not around edge where sleeve is elevated.
